The olive tree has always been an undeniable star of Mediterranean agriculture. It is also a basic element in the agricultural landscape of Benicarló. Furthermore, in the area there are examples of thousand year old olive trees which are living monuments dating back to the Roman era.
Benicarló is part of the Taula del Sénia Association covering the towns of Castellón, Tarragona and Teruel, one of the areas with the highest concentration of millennial olive trees in Europe.
