Pastries and cakes

Our pastries and cakes can be eaten at any time of day, thanks to the bakeries and cake shops in Benicarló which make them daily, or on special occasions, and most of them are from traditional recipes.
Among the savoury pastries, one of the most popular are “cocs” a type of thin crispy bread with tomato, onion or courgette toppings and “pastissets” a type of pasty with artichoke, tuna or spinach fillings. And as for sweet pastries there’s the “coc rápido” a type of sponge cake, “carquiñoles” a type of biscotti, “pastissets” pastries filled with pumpkin jam, aniseed rolls and “cocas de San Antonio” a local speciality.
