The Ebro Delta

The Ebro Delta is the largest wetland area in the Catalunya region. With a Surface area of 320 km2, this is the most important aquatic habitat in the western Mediterranean.
The Ebro Delta Natural Park gives you the chance to discover an extremely beautiful ecosystem which is rich in flora and fauna. The extensive rice fields which change depending on the season dominate the Delta landscape. The coastal area is one of the most attractive on the Mediterranean with huge lagoons surrounded by reed beds and rushes. The peripheral part comprises large areas of saline land and very long, deserted beaches with sand dunes crowned with plants adapted to the environment. Currently, agriculture is one of the biggest economic foundations on the Delta, with a clear predominance of rice.
In the Park there are routes and viewing platforms where you can contemplate nature, or themed museums as well as boat trips along the Ebro River. Something you must try is the local cuisine which is based on rice and fish.
