Sant Antoni

The Sant Antoni festival is celebrated on 17 January, and this is when you will see bonfires in the streets and «la torrà», which is when the locals get together and barbecue typical produce from the land and sea: artichokes, ribs etc. In the afternoon, in the Church Square, the ‘Dimoni’ devil is burned and bad spirits are driven away.
The festival is finished off with a parade and by blessing the animals, while thousands of ‘coques’ typical, rich cakes from Benicarló are handed out. At the second weekend of December takes place an important agricultural machine fair.
